The Friends of St Laurence
The Church as a Community Resource
The physical presence of an important medieval church in the centre of our village is something that gives a focal point, a sense of history and permanence in a rapidly changing world. Along with our school, shop, the pub and our famous village green, it is part of the character of Warborough and Shillingford that attracts new people to live in this active community.
Although we are blessed with several meeting places in our village, the church provides a particularly special setting in which to host community events such as concerts, talks, exhibitions and other gatherings.
Our church organ was built by the renowned builder of organs, Henry Willis, regarded as the foremost organ builder of the Victorian era. During his career he built over 1000 organs including those at Alexandra Palace, The Royal Albert Hall and St. Paul’s Cathedral. The church and our splendid organ is available to book for recitals as well as regular services and family events. For further information please visit the News & Events page.
If you would like to discuss using the church to host an event or special occasion, please contact Michael Watkins, the Church Warden at: michaelwatkins131@btinternet.com or on 01865 858597.
