The Friends of St Laurence
Part 1 of the church conservation project completed
Published: May, 2022
On 16th March 2022 the first part of our Church Conservation Project was completed. This included: repairs to the chancel east gable masonry and copings, cleaning out and repointing north transept settlement cracks, rebuilding a section of the boundary wall and repairs to the preaching cross. The whole package was undertaken by Sally Strachey Historic Conservation at a total cost of some £30,000 plus VAT. We hope to recover 80+% of the VAT from the Listed Places of Worship grant scheme. This money will then be channelled into the next stage of works. Thanks to all our friends and generous supporters for helping us to achieve this important first milestone!
