Saturday, 13th November in the church
Published: November, 2021
Saturday evening, 13th November, St :Laurence Church, Warborough: One hundred and twenty guesses were treated to an evening of music for organ, violin and voice featuring our wonderful Henry “Father” Willis organ. Katie Pardee, lecturer in music at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, lead the evening supported by two of her organ scholars, Brendon Qi (senior scholar) and Ali Trowell (junior scholar), with Rachael Pedley on violin and mezzo soprano, Charlie Tetley entertained the audience with pieces from Handel, Boëllmann, Elert, Vivaldi, Mozart, Bach and others. The air was a-buzz as guests assembled for drinks in the Church Hall afterwards and all agreed it had been an evening to remember. Thanks to the generosity of guests, sponsors and advertisers, we raised £3500 towards the Friend’s church conservation fund. Martyn Drury, Chair of the Friends of St Laurence said: “The church is a community asset, available for all sorts of uses, and after tonight’s success we hope to hold similar evenings of entertainment again in the near future.”
